Hindi Poem, longing for beloved

This hindi poem ‘इंतज़ार’ portrays a lover’s longing for their beloved and the hope of becoming one with them!

This hindi poem ‘इंतज़ार’ portrays a lover’s longing for their beloved and the hope of becoming one with them. Love manifests itself in many forms, some consider endless waiting for their beloved as true love while for others, it is about spending every living moment of their life with their beloved. Dying together is considered and celebrated as a symbol of pure love in many folklore stories.

The one sided love which is the inspiration for this hindi poem is a symbol of selfless love sans expectations. It also reminds me of a dialogue from one of my favorite romantic hindi movies Namaste London which is originally in punjabi but says something to the effect that, ‘I have recognized what true love is, when you stop the desire to become one with your lover’ (Ishq di mere mitra pachaan ki, mit jaye jadon zidd apnan di).

This emotion is captured in the lines of this hindi poem ‘

English Rendition:

At least once, express your love for me and give me the gift of your time, however little.

I have waited years for your answer, yes or no doesn’t matter to me, give me the gift of acknowledgement

don’t ask me what I think about you, that’s my secret treasure

the world mocks me when they see you with someone else,

to wait for you is now my obsession, for this life I have, and for many others!

Hindi Wordplay

Hindi Wordplay भीड़ में अकेला is about those moments when you feel lonely in a crowd, and yet deeply connected with yourself.

This Hindi Wordplay भीड़ में अकेला is about that feeling of sudden loneliness, that dawns upon us even though we are surrounded by a crowd. At an event I attended recently, my brain stole a few moments and I was lost in the avalanche of my thoughts and felt alone, and yet completely at peace. Anything that was happening around me stopped to matter. While everything slowed down a bit, I was able to see myself standing there in the crowd.

Honestly, I crave for some of these moments where I am fully one with who I am and not really worried about the past, future or the present. This feeling of disconnectedness is once in a while and really powerful. In these rare moments, I feel the power to choose between what really matters and what is just noise.

Have you experienced such moments? Felt lonely in a crowd, and yet deeply connected with yourself.

Hope some lines in this Hindi Wordplay find resonance with you.

Poem to celebrate my brother’s birthday

This poem celebrates one of the biggest gifts in life.Having an elder brother is a blessing, and I am grateful for this blessing in my life.

भईया is a poem I penned down for my brother’s birthday to tell him how much he means to me and all of us in our family. He is a wonderful father to a beautiful 8 year old girl Freya, who is a beautiful soul and of course the best kid on the planet.

One of the biggest gifts in life is to have a sibling with whom you can absolutely be yourself all the time. Having an elder brother is a blessing, and I am grateful for this blessing in my life. As my brother, Prady, celebrates his birthday this year, I reminisce about my childhood and the happy moments spent with my brother.

Bhaiya, you are a gem and I wish you a very Happy Birthday. Stay awesome!

A few lines below, for you.

Hindi Poem about Self-Love

This hindi poem ‘खुद से दोस्ती’ reminds us to be-friend our self and indulge in self-love!

This hindi poem ‘खुद से दोस्ती’ draws its inspiration from self-love, which I believe is the scarcest form of love going around. More and more people take less and less time to get comfortable with self. Our mind these days is constantly triggered by the content we consume and we have become so habitual that now it’s difficult for us to sit idle 5 minutes without any content stimulation. Our attention span is getting shorter and our comfort with self and silence is waning rapidly.

This hindi poem emphasizes that whether we like it or not, we will need to spend a lot of time with ourselves, hence it’s better to be-friend our self and learn to indulge in self-love. Here it goes:

English Rendition:

Befriend thyself o wanderer, you will need to spend a lot of time with yourself

after all, everyone around is busy with their struggle to decode life, learn to accept that

sometimes, friends end up hurting us, so we try to hide our shortcomings from even our friends

life these days, is uncertain, and we are bound to lose our loved ones on this journey

although we travel the world, yet, in the end, we come back home to ourselves

Befriend thyself o wanderer, you will need to spend a lot of time with yourself

This hindi shayari दौर नया है explores the changing world around us and our evolving relationship with the various aspects of our life. Be it money, relationships, travel, food or time, everything now is different than what we have experienced in what now feels some distant part of our life. As we cope with this change, reminiscing the past and appreciating it for what it was and subtly lamenting about the new ways of the world and how it has impacted us.

‘That perfect spot on the beach’: A poetry

That perfect spot on the beach is a poetry that captures my feelings while I spend time with myself, as I locate that quiet and secluded spot on a beautiful beach!

I penned ‘That perfect spot on the beach’ last week while enjoying my vacation. It was a solo trip, a first since 2014 when I last travelled across countries in Europe.

I started writing way back in 2006 but my commitment and focus towards writing all these years was at best inconsistent. This year, I have fully embraced my identity as a writer – I am someone who loves to write and express my feelings through words. Consequently, I have been writing and publishing consistently for the last 7 months and a paper and pen accompany me most of the times. This allowed me to capture my thoughts while I sat in a secluded spot on the beach.

I travel a thousand miles to find,

that perfect spot on the beach

to meet a part of myself,

that otherwise feels difficult to reach

I look at the waves with wonder,

perhaps they have a lesson to teach

keep flowing where the wind takes you,

don’t care about what they preach

What do I yearn for though,

Is a wall I struggle to breach

I keep looking within and outside for,

that perfect spot on the beach

Kavita:

This hindi Kavita ‘वो चाहते हैं’, explores the emotion of Anger and watches it transform into pursuit of excellence.

Love evokes unparalleled emotions and is often an inspiration for the ink to transform itself into words on paper. However, revenge, anger, pain and jealousy etc. are equally powerful emotions and have the power to lend themselves as an inspiration for a compelling piece of poetry. This hindi kavita ‘वो चाहते हैं’ is powered by one such emotion, Anger!

Anger, when it continues to accumulate can become volcanic, waiting for an outburst which once triggered can annihilate anything that comes in its way! In contrast, in this Kavita ‘वो चाहते हैं’, the anger transforms itself into a powerful energy which propels the engine of hard-work and pursuit of excellence.

Monsoon Poetry:

As we savor pakodas in the monsoon rain, innocently oblivious to our surrounding, this poetry highlights the dichotomy of events around us.

It’s monsoon season in India and monsoon is often associated with the quintessential pakodas (fritters) and Chai. For most people in India, Pakodas in the rain is the first thought that crosses the mind. This monsoon season, as the thought of crispy pakodas occurred to me, simultaneously several other thoughts got triggered which lent themselves to the poetry below. As we savor pakodas in the monsoon rain, innocently oblivious to our surrounding, this poetry is a reminder of the dichotomy of events and situations facing us today.

Hindi Poetry:

This Hindi poetry ‘वो सुबह निकली घर से’ ponders over a natural expression which allows us to experience varied situations in an apt manner

This Hindi Poetry ‘वो सुबह निकली घर से’ ponders over an often underappreciated part of our natural expression which allows us to experience or wade through many situations in an apt manner. Without this expression, there would be a hapless void which can rob the essence of those pivotal moments.

English Rendition:

she left home early morning

and expressed itself on a erring person

I feel betrayed by my tears,

it then reverberated loudly

when it learning for losing a friend

it reached a stadium

and lent itself to the celebration

in the deep dark night

it saved a young girl from miscreants

the scream, it morphed itself to the benefit of people

before returning home exhausted

Wordplay: Can’t I Have it All?

This is a wordplay that reflects our feelings when we ponder over the meaning of life and look for sanity in world around us!

The busy’ness of life leaves us scrambing for time. Sometimes we ponder if this is how life is meant to be! We made life choices which have landed us where we are today. Although, some of those choices weren’t really choices, but the only options we had. This wordplay is a reflection of those feelings of churn that we experience, quite often, in the search for meaning, or in the quest of sanity! Life would have been much easier if only we could have our loved ones around us all the time, while we pursue our life’s goals. But, Can I Have it All?

I struggle to put words in a rhyme,

teach me how, I’ll give you a dime

Childhood indeed was a period sublime,

innocence could make up for any crime

Now work takes up all my time,

hours slips through like a slime

I am succeeding, ain’t that life’s objective prime,

my family isn’t with me, I meet them on facetime

Can’t I have it all, in one lifetime,

‘No Sir, You Can’t’, in a chorus they chime
