This ghazal in hindi is an attempt to underscore the arrogance induced by wealth amongst many of us. People (me included) enjoy the display of abundance and conveniently forget that their fortunes are influenced by the kindness of the almighty (Rabb). This behavior is induced by ‘us’, as we have come to appreciate and idolize those with material success. Some of us detest it though, but ironically only till the time we don’t step into abundance!
Hope this reminds us all to be grateful and kind!
Here it goes: वो जो आगे निकल गए हैं, a ghazal in hindi
माना कुछ लोग ज़िन्दगी में आगे निकल गए हैं
सफर की भूख में वो कई रिश्ते निगल गए हैं
–
अक्सर मोल बताते हैं वो अपनी महंगी गाड़ी का
भूल गए हैं घमंड की आग में कई तख़्त पिघल गए हैं
–
सभी का नसीब लिखने वाला एक है
उसकी मेहरबानी को वो अपना हक़ समझ मचल गए हैं
–
अफ़सोस क्या जतायें इस ज़माने में आजकल
हैसियत परखने के पैमाने जो बदल गए हैं
–
तौबा करते हैं गुरूर दौलत से जो भरी महफ़िल में
‘शोरी’ किस्मत बदलते ही वो भी फिसल गए हैं
