Millions of women lose their unborn child to miscarriage. I recognize that no words or language can meaningfully express the state of the women who experience this. This poem ‘Ladder of Pain’ is an attempt to lend some words to the state of being at a hurftul juncture, however only partly so!
She climbed up a step,
on the ladder of pain
–
she lost a life within, yet unborn,
how could she be sane
–
thoughts engulf and consume her,
she keeps touching her belly, again and again
–
this ladder of pain has infinite steps,
she keeps climbing unable to stop and refrain
–
jump off this ladder without regret,
falling off sometimes is a gain
